Frequently asked questions
Which San Diego County office should we choose?
If you want a decorated setting or guests, choose the Downtown San Diego chapel (up to 15 guests). La Jolla (up to 2 guests) and Oceanside (paperwork only) are quick, quiet offices for license issuance and signings — ideal when you just need the paperwork done. All three are by appointment, 7 days a week (Downtown: 6 AM – 11:30 PM daily).
Do you serve North County — Carlsbad, Encinitas, Vista, Escondido, San Marcos?
Yes. Our Oceanside office covers North County for paperwork and quick signings, and a mobile appointment brings the ceremony to you anywhere in the county. Travel fees depend on distance and are confirmed before you book.
Can we get married on the beach or at our hotel?
Yes — book a mobile package. The officiant brings the license and every form, performs the ceremony where you are, and files with the county afterwards. Mobile ceremonies have no guest limit.
We are a military couple — can you help?
Yes. Military packages are available at our San Diego County offices and for mobile ceremonies; choose the Military package when you book, or call the office and we will set it up for you.
Do we need witnesses or a waiting period?
No. We issue confidential marriage licenses, which require no witnesses, no blood test and no waiting period — just the two of you with valid photo ID.
Do we have to live in San Diego County?
No. There is no residency requirement — couples visiting from elsewhere in California, from other states or from abroad can get married the same day.
What do we need to bring?
A valid government-issued photo ID for each partner, and proof that any previous marriage ended (final divorce decree, annulment or death certificate). See the full what-to-bring checklist.
